This beautiful, antique jewelry box set was crafted in France circa 1870. The box has a mother-of-pearl crest on the top and front, and reveals several dividers inside while the compartments are outfitted with silver and glass containers. The vanity accessories include two square cut-glass bottles, two round glass bottles with silver tops and two small perfume cut-glass bottles. The various small compartments are lined with a luxurious, dark blue velvet fabric. There are two small handles on each side, which allow you to lift the top section to reveal a second interior with additional storage space. Above all, the most unusual feature is a small, hidden button which triggers a spacious, secret drawer that's padded with blue velvet. This toilet kit was also called a "trinket box". The rare wooden boxes were deemed "necessary" because they are easily transportable and carry many objects in a minimum amount of space. This nice collector's item has been beautifully preserved. Key included. Measures: 12.25" W x 9.25" D x 7" H. This item includes restricted materials and can not be sold outside of the contiguous United States.
