Late 19th century pine chopping block from England. The top is made from three blocks of wood and banded around the edge and secured with iron straps on the corners. The block is supported on simple legs, joined by a single shelf, made with slats of wood. This is a great size for a chopping block, as they are normally much larger and harder to place in a kitchen.
