Mánes Exhibition Hall Light

Chairish

$839

The original light from the legendary Mánes Exhibition Hall on the banks of the Vltava River in Prague, designed by Ladislav Vrátník in the 1970s. This functionalist building was constructed in 1930 on the site of the former Šítkovské mills according to a design by Otakar Novotný and served for many years as the headquarters of the Mánes Union of Fine Arts. To this day, it is considered an architectural gem and a symbol of a prestigious exhibition space. The light consists of a white-lacquered cubic structure made of base metal, into which a cylindrical reflector is set. The visible parts of the reflector and frame are chrome-plated. The reflector is tiltable and the angle of illumination is adjustable. The light is in good original condition. The chrome plating and metal structure have visible patina, are slightly scratched and rusted, as can be seen in the photos. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
