The vintage figural lamp has a group of four figures dressed in 18th century costumes reminiscent of the fashion worn by the nobility of the French Court. The couple under the lamp was dancing to the music from the court lady playing the lute lyre and the gentleman playing the lute. The costumes are full of details which are highlighted in gilt paint which was fired over the deep cobalt blue. the faces and hands are done in good details. It is good to have to group of four figures together. The side figures, court lady and musician add interest to the dancing pair. The maker's mark is very faint. Not familiar enough to say the country of origin, the best guess is Japan. Measurements given is for all four figures together. Average height for figures is 12 inches
