- An incredibly rare run of Holophane 'Hedralite' flush mounted ceiling lanterns, English circa 1920.- The lights originally hung under a false ceiling in a Mappin & Webb silver and fine jewellery store in London, England and for that reason have been immaculately preserved. - The rectangular brass cages house eight individual sections of prismatic glass plates which are all stamped 'Holophane PS.99' 'Hedralite. Pat No. 347.387'. The cages can each be dismantled down into individual pieces, each piece stamped with a model number, wonderful detail.- These lanterns are ready to be installed over the appropriate light source, they are heavy pieces of incredible quality, scarce examples.- Price is per light, quantity available.- Height 26.5cm, Width 53cm, Depth 30cm.Holophane Originally founded in 1893 the hallmark of Holophane luminaires was the borosilicate glass reflector, which acted as a prism providing a combination of uplight and downlight, to illuminate any environment evenly without creating dark spots or glare. As a result Holophane lights were frequently used in churches, as street-lights and to illuminate older factories and industrial spaces.
