A little lantern designed to be held, the Tomoshi Portable Light (2015) puts the ‘fun' in ‘function' according to designer and founder of Japanese design firm Nendo, Oki Sato. The rechargeable lamp, which takes its name from the Japanese word for light, features a gently curved body in silky-to-touch recycled polymer, and a luminous base that emits a dimmable, glare-free glow. It's topped with a pleasingly tactile and highly practical matte leather strap, which allows it to be “freely placed, hooked, and carried," according to its designer. This simple practicality makes Tomoshi stand out, but “it's the details that make it special," says Sato. “It's the flat button, clicking sound and the feel, when you dim the light." Includes touch-controlled step and stepless dimming and USB charging cable. Runs from 5.5 to 48 hours on a single charge. Lumen 210lm at 100%. Bulb (included): 3W LED 2000K-2700K.
