The socket is suspended which means that it dangles down 3" from the main line. These strings are perfect for an outdoor patio, special event, restuarant, and Christmas lighting decoration. The strings are not connectable end to end and you can only run one 100' string per outlet but these are great for one continuous run of 100' without any extra connecting plug. Each string comes ready to plug in and all you need to do is screw in the light bulbs. Each socket is made of PVC material to create a water tight seal around the globe bulb for extra protection against weathering. Each set comes with 20 extra bulbs to be used for replacements.
