A louis xvi period salon suite comprising a sofa and a pair of bergère armchairs in gray-green lacquered wood (with highlights) with gilt moldings and ornaments. the sofa features a concave arched back surmounted by two finials in the form of fluted, gilt vases; the fluted, tapered legs and corner rosettes are characteristic of the louis xvi style. The bergère armchairs have rectangular backs of the same design. The entire suite is upholstered in a cream-colored toile de jouy fabric printed in burgundy red with chinoiserie motifs (figures in oriental dress, butterflies, birds, scrolls) and a wavy garland with cartouches; the bergère armchairs are adorned with matching cushions with red and white twisted passementerie trim. workshop report: the upholstery shows significant stains and soiling requiring cleaning.
