Attention Collectors! 1st Generation Aluminum Group Lounge Chair. Designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller in 1957 and first produced in 1958. This collector-quality example in charcoal Naugahyde (high-quality vinyl fabric) is completely original and in astounding condition. We personally removed this tilt/swivel chair from the original owner’s Westwood home in Los Angeles. It’s the perfect candidate to anchor your room or space especially for the discerning mid-century modern enthusiast. This is a Model 642 Reclining Chair With Pillow and Arms. Rare earliest 1st Generation. The aluminum base is marked with the Herman Miller Logo plus the words ‘Patent Pending’, which are found only on bases produced during the first two years of production 1958 & 1959. A finer all original example of this rare chair will probably not be found. Somehow this vegan friendly chair has been nearly perfectly preserved over its 60+ years. The charcoal Naugahyde doesn’t have a mark on it. The aluminum is all completely intact with barely a rub here or there. The black enameled arms with only a minor scuff or two. And we removed and professionally cleaned the original fabric zip-off pillow cover. Approx measurements: Height 39” Width 26” Depth 30.5” Seat Height 15.75”
