I am #madforplaid. The form of this chair may be rare. So is the fabric. The plaid fabric is cotton a very intricate pattern and color full. Daniel Cooper was a force on the American scene. Here is a tad of info on him. George Daniel Cooper (always known as Dan) was born Jan. 21, 1901 in Washington, D.C. He attended the University of Virginia for two years before transferring in 1921 to the N.Y. School of Fine and Applied Arts (now the Parsons School of Design). From 1924-1965, Cooper decorated prestigious residential and commercial interiors for an international client base, collaborated with well-known architects, and offered lines of both customized and ready-to-assemble furniture (PAKTO). His designs were created both in fabrics and in wallpaper. He was the author of "Inside Your Home," a founding member of the American Institute of Design, and involved in professionalizing and promoting the field of interior design. He maintained offices and showrooms in Manhattan and later in his career had a textile distribution center and several retail shops in Effingham Falls, N.H. He advocated an "American" style in his interiors, textiles, furniture lines, and merchandising arrangements. Cooper's untimely death on March 9, 1965 prevented him from taking steps to insure that his company, Dan Cooper, Inc. and the "Dan Cooper" brand would survive him. His sister, Mary Frances Doyle, assumed management of the organization for nine years after his death; the company closed in 1974. Florence Bassett Knoll was the designer of this iconic chair and plenty has been said and writtern about her. So I won't overwhelm you.
