Bucket lounge chairs designed by Miroslav Navrátil and produced by Vertex in the 1960s. Each chair features a deeply rounded shell form upholstered in bright white long-pile faux fur, covering the full interior and exterior of the shell. Four tapered birch legs splay outward from beneath the shell, providing a stable, low-slung stance characteristic of Mid-Century Czech furniture production.Vertex was a Czechoslovak furniture manufacturer active during the postwar decades, producing modernist furniture for both domestic and export markets. Navrátil's bucket chair design reflects the organic, shell-form seating that gained prominence across European furniture design in the late 1950s and 1960s, drawing on similar formal ideas explored by designers in Scandinavia and Western Europe. The chairs have been newly reupholstered in white faux fur, refreshing the shells while retaining their original birch frames.Frames have visible wear, including scratching.
