The AX Lounge Chair is a milestone of Danish design, created by the duo Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. Produced by the renowned manufacturer Fritz Hansen since the 1950s, this chair is considered a pioneer in industrial plywood manufacturing. The design was conceived with mass production in mind, resulting in an entire family of variations – with or without armrests, and in upholstered or solid wood versions. Today, this classic is experiencing a renaissance and is now being reissued by &Tradition. This particular example has been meticulously restored to mint condition. The distinctive frame, made of molded plywood, has been painstakingly sanded by hand and then oiled to perfectly highlight the natural depth and warmth of the wood grain. The tactile quality of the wood harmonizes beautifully with the new, modern upholstery. A high-quality, olive-green teddy fabric was chosen for the cover, giving the chair a cozy yet contemporary look. The soft nap of the fabric creates a striking contrast to the clean, sculptural lines of the frame.
