Joe Colombo designed the Basket Lounge Chair in 1967, drawing the form directly from hand-woven basketry. A carbon steel skeleton - replacing the original fiberglass core - underpins the organic silhouette, which is wrapped in a handwoven rattan skin of interlaced strips and oval stakes, a technique that demands considerable skill to execute. Rounded seat and back cushions sit within the frame alongside cylindrical bolsters at the sides; covers are removable for easy cleaning. Made in Lithuania.
