GUBI’s Bistra lounge chair, created by Milan-based AMDL CIRCLE led by Michele De Lucchi, is a contemporary interpretation of the classic rattan bistro chair. Suitable for a wide range of living and lounge spaces, the rattan lounge chair is shaped through steam bending, giving it its flowing curves, while the backrest features a traditional rattan weave. The removable seat cushion is upholstered in a high-quality cotton fabric. The shapes of the Bistra collection echo plants sprouting from the ground, growing from a simple stem into branching, interwoven structures. The rattan chairs were born out of AMDL CIRCLE’s exploration of rattan’s essence – one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, rattan is remarkably strong, durable, and resilient, yet at the same time light and highly flexible.
