Introducing a true Danish Modern masterpiece: an ultra-rare "Blade Arm" chair designed by the incomparable Ib Kofod Larsen for Selig. This iconic armchair has been fully restored and newly upholstered in a fabulous faded Canary yellow cotton bouclé, making it the perfect addition to any modern home. Constructed from solid Danish Beech wood and stained chocolate walnut (in exact accordance with the original finish and materials), this now iconic lounge chair is both durable and stylish, comfortable and utterly breathtaking from every angel. Ib Kofod-Larsen was a venerated architect who formed part of a movement known as Danish Modern. Larsen was a purist and considered himself as more of an artisan than an architect or designer and his extensive catalog is proof of that. He was respected for having an exceptional understanding of materials and an eye for the potential of the wood and the quality of the raw materials he used. He often worked in different types of wood – mainly teak and palisander in combination with real leather and other organic materials like cotton which is why we chose to add the cotton bouclé to this chair in homage to the original design and intention. The Selig Manufacturing Co was at the cutting edge of contemporary furniture during the mid 20th century. Selig Furniture was founded by Mendell Selig and Samuel Wexler in Gardner, Massachusetts in 1931. By the 1950s the company had grown to become one of America's leading importers and producers of contemporary furniture. The company focused on the high end designs being produced in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries. Their product range epitomized the simple, elegant and airy forms typical of post-war Danish furniture design on display in this exquisite chair's aesthetic and form. With it's instantly recognizable saber-shaped arms, new upholstery and refinished wood this icon of Danish design is perfect for both collectors and designers alike searching for an authentic Larsen piece that is ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Equal parts comfort and aesthetics this lounger can blend seamlessly against a multitude of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Contemporary to Minimalism and everything in between. Historically these chairs do not come along often and are quick to sell. Make it yours today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 30.5 in / 77.47 cm Depth: 32 in / 81.28 cm Height: 27 in / 68.58 cm Seat Height: 15 in / 38.1 cm Arm Height: 22.5 in / 57.15 cm
