Reimagining the Classic lounge chair first popularized by midcentury icons Hans Wegner and Charles and Ray Eames, designer Ben Erickson created his own contemporary interpretation. Erickson modernized the vintage version by replacing the chair’s traditional tapered legs with cylindrical dowels that seamlessly connect to a distinctive fastener on the back. “This little piece of plumbing pipe I picked up from the hardware store actually led me to the inspiration for the entire chair,” says Erickson of the fastener. “I just started fitting dowels into it to see how I could use it as a joint.” Additionally, a wax cord laces up the backside, providing a tautness to the leather and another layer of support.
