Chairish

$1,934

This Charming Austrian mid century Loungechair is one of the most popular designs by Roland Rainer. It was designed for Café Ritter in Vienna in 1952 and features a bright beechwood frame and a new top quality fabric upholstery in very cozy grey Boucle The chair was manufactured by Emil and Alfred Pollak in Vienna, who as well produced the world famous Stadthallen Chairs. The bright beech wood has been very slightly restored as well so the Chair is in excellent condition and ready for use. Roland Rainer (1910-2004) was an Austrian architect and Professor. He was teaching at several European Universities and he was one of the most important architects in Austria. The "Wiener Stadthalle" (Vienna city hall) was one of his most significant works and was built from 1956 to 1962. The chairs (also called as "Stadthallensessel") for the city hall are very well-known and sought-after design objects. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
