Starting from a design from ca. 1880 ("Tripolina" chair), the Butterfly or BKF Chair was designed in 1938 by the architects Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferraris Hardy (BKF) for the Argentinian Grupo Austral. from 1947 to about 1951 the chair was produced by the American company Knoll. Because Knoll was unable to obtain a patent for the chair, it was subsequently marketed by other manufacturers as well. This chair dates from the 70s and is in good vintage condition. The chair has normal age-related signs of wear. The original leather upholstery is still sturdy and intact. The frame can be partially disassembled.
