The "Tongue" low lounge chair created in 1967 by Pierre Paulin and produced by Artifort in the Netherlands, stands out for its unique features. This design icon resembles a cushion more than a traditional seat. Its undulating form allows the sitter to recline, with minimal separation from the floor due to its foam padding. The chair's soft, streamlined shape evokes a modernist sculpture, with its revolutionary structure lacking traditional legs. Using an innovative technique, Paulin wrapped the metal frame with foam rubber and stretchy fabric, creating a chair that appears as a single, uniform form rather than an assembly of parts. Both chairs have their original foam and blue Kvadrat upholstery and still remain in a great condition. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
