A stunning and rare matched pair of Finn Juhl FD137 “Japan Series” lounge chairs, designed in 1953 and manufactured by France & Daverkosen in Denmark. Distributed through John Stuart of New York and Grand Rapids - both original dealer badges are intact on the underside, along with the original “fd / made in denmark” manufacturer’s stamp. Provenance doesn’t get better than this. The solid teak frames are in exceptional condition, with the warm honey tones and beautiful grain characteristic of the finest Danish mid-century work. The signature cylindrical arm rests and exposed brass fittings, design details that make the Japan Series so iconic and collectible, are present and intact. The original blue wool upholstery is clean, firm, and shows no wear; these chairs have been lightly used and carefully maintained since purchase.
