Sculptural high-end rattan lounge chair attributed after McGuire Furniture Co., produced in the Philippines circa the late 20th century. The chair features a substantial bent-rattan frame with softly flared arms, an architectural barrel-back profile, and finely woven cane panels throughout the back and sides. The frame is constructed from thick, laminated rattan poles with traditional wrapped joinery and an X-form stretcher for added stability. Original webbed seat support with a tailored loose seat cushion upholstered in a neutral linen-tone fabric. Warm honey-brown patina consistent with age and quality materials. This form and construction closely align with McGuire’s celebrated organic modern aesthetic, known for its refined craftsmanship and use of natural materials. While the original maker’s label is no longer present, the chair was acquired from a residence containing multiple McGuire pieces, and the quality, scale, and design are consistent with McGuire production of the period.
