Siesta Lounge Chair Attributed To Ingmar Relling For Westnofa, 1980

Chairish

$2,136

An absolutely stunning "Siesta Chair" in very good vintage condition. The Siesta Chair has become one of the most recognizable and popular Scandinavian furniture designs of the entire Mid-Century Modern design era. The frame is made of bent and laminated beechwood from sustainable forests and stained rosewood. The original leather, in a rich dark brown shade with its light wear, adds warmth and character, as one would expect from something used and loved. Norwegian-born architect and designer Ingmar Relling is known as one of Norway's most internationally recognized and revered designers and is considered a key figure in the Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design movement. In 1965, Relling designed the Siesta Chair in collaboration with his son Knut Relling, for which he received the first award from the Industry Council for Furniture that same year. Relling was committed to creating ergonomic and environmentally friendly furniture and ensuring that his pieces were constructed to be repairable. This item can be disassembled. Reassembly is quick and easy. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
