The ICONIC BKF chair was designed in 1938 by three Argentine architects: Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan, and Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy. The name "BKF" is an acronym formed from the first letter of each of their last names. The design was inspired by the "Tripolina" chair, a 19th-century portable folding chair and was originally created for an apartment building they were designing in Buenos Aires. It later became known as the "Butterfly Chair" due to its shape.
