Designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Gavina in 1966, this original Bastiano two-seater sofa is an icon of Mid-Century Modern Italian design. The piece features a solid walnut frame with the Scarpas’ signature clean geometry and newly restored cushions upholstered in refined off-white Italian bouclé. The Bastiano collection was conceived to combine architectural structure with inviting comfort — a perfect expression of the Italian design philosophy of the 1960s. This two-seater model embodies that vision through its bold walnut frame and the tactile softness of its bouclé upholstery. The sofa has been carefully restored by Italian artisans: all cushions have new high-density padding and have been reupholstered while maintaining the original proportions and design integrity. The frame remains in excellent vintage condition, with only minor signs of age. A timeless and collectible piece that brings warmth, elegance, and authenticity to any modern interior.
