Supernova Sofa By Archizoom For Poltronova, 1960s

Chairish

$6,487

Designed in 1967 by the radical Florentine group Archizoom, it was the first sofa without a frame. It consists of two waves, carved from a single block of polyurethane cut in two by an “S”-shaped line, which interlock and overlap to create different configurations. Its lightness and modularity allow for varied uses: Superonda can function as a sofa, a bed, or a chaise longue. Like many of the pieces designed by Archizoom, it challenges bourgeois conventions, encouraging user creativity and imagination. The glossy vinyl upholstery, available in primary colors such as white, black, and red, enhances its pop image. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs, designer records, or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
