Claudio Salocchi's design explores the decade from the 1970s to the 1980s, when new ways of living and experimentation were at the centre of Italian designers' work. FREE SYSTEM revolutionises the idea of the living room by suggesting that the living area could be resolved simply by free, continuous seating. It is an upholstery system derived from the concept of the 'operated floor' or tatami where upholstered modules could be freely combined.
