Vintage Danish Rosewood Modular Wall Unit by Poul Cadovius for Cado, 1960s. Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern 4 bay shelving system model Cado. This is a original vintage floating bookcase designed by Danish architect Poul Cadovius. Cadovius had the revolutionary idea to design a floating, modular shelving system that would maximize floor space and signify the end of conformity in shelving. He first designed the model Royal with brass shelf brackets and a few years later the model Cado with wooden shelf brackets. He also named the company Cado. Versatile and flexible floating bookcase that allows for continuous rearranging to suit individual needs. When the uprights are attached to the wall with a c/c distance of 80 cm the cabinets and shelves can be placed as desired. This set consists of: 5 Uprights, length 215 cm 1 Chest of drawers, three drawers: 38 x 80 x 42.5 cm 1 Cabinet with sliding doors and 1 shelf, 38 x 80 x 42.5 cm 1 Large shelf/ desk leaf, depth 38 cm 6 Shelves, depth 30 cm 4 Shelves, depth 22 cm Cabinet with sliding doors has a height adjustable shelf. The three drawer dresser module offers plenty of storage space in its wide drawers. Large shelf can be used as a desk leaf. This original Cado System is suitable for both the living room, home office or library. Stamped "Made in Denmark" on the back the cabinets. In very fine vintage condition with natural patina consistent with age and use. Small nicks and scratches on top of cabinets. Old burn marks underneath one shelf and one inside a drawer.
