1970s Sculptural Artist Painted "Graffiti" Vintage Nightstands

Chairish

$716

All-over abstract composition hand-painted in acrylic and spray-paint by artist Lionel Lamy on a pair of 1970s Brutalist nightstands. Heavy carved wood doors, shelving on inside. Selling one piece at a time. Price is for one. Dimensions: Height: 25 in. Width: 26 in. Depth: 18 in Condition: Newly painted on vintage pieces. Original wear may still be visible. Born in France in 1978 I emigrated to Dallas with my parents in 1985. I started painting at 15 years of age and never stopped. I've worked and exposed in Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City changing styles repeatedly over the years and experimenting with abstraction, minimalism, and figurative elements. Artist Statement: I'm inspired by the egalitarianism of graffiti art and how it empowers people to regain a voice in their environment, as well as by the liberating DIY philosophy of folk art. Ultimately creating a folk art which can digest, distort, and reclaim the chaos of our particular, apocalyptic, 21st century experience. Reclamation Series 2022-23: In this series of painted pieces a language is hinted at but is reduced to shapes and colors and purposefully meant to be unreadable. The message is the imagery; the bold, fractured dense noise of shape and color balanced in an organically-accumulated asymmetric order.
