An elegant pair of antique french louis xvi revival petit commodes, circa 1880 in date. The demi lune shaped chests were crafted from mahogany and feature a pierced three-quarter ormolu gallery above a white carrara marble top above three central drawers, fitted with their original ormolu handles, and flanked by curved panels, and raised on square tapering legs terminating in ormolu feet. These cabinets are in really superb condition. Provenance: corby castle, carlisle, england lord and lady ballyedmond the botanical name for the mahogany this item is made of is swietenia macrophylla and this type of mahogany is not subject to cites regulation.
