A pair of Antique French Louis XV Marquetry marble top nightstands. Subtle contours and scroll shapes are evident in the corner posts and legs, which support serpentine sides and an arched front façade for a curvaceous effect. The tops are luxurious marble, contoured and beveled to precisely follow the contours of the furniture below. Veneers with oriented grain patterns for visual appeal cover each side, complete with the finest French edging. The elegantly contoured front legs are adorned with bronze shoulder and foot mounts, with bronze pulls on the front to complement the styling. Two drawers with dovetail joints make each piece extremely versatile, next to the bed or against the wall in any seating group, combining an opulent look, a casual surface and surprising storage. Circa early 1900s.
