This pair of oak bedside tables was designed by Henning Kjærnulf and produced in Denmark during the 1960s. Each stands on four sharply tapered legs, the rear pair extending above the top into pointed, spear-like posts that frame the raised gallery back. A single drawer sits below the top, fitted with pierced rococo-style brass pulls, with a shallow scalloped apron beneath. The heavy, angular leg profile and exaggerated proportions give the pair a distinctly sculptural, Brutalist character within an otherwise traditional cabinetmaking vocabulary. The oak shows a warm, even tone, with dovetail joinery visible in the drawer boxes. Compact in footprint and bold in silhouette, the pair suits either side of a bed or as small occasional tables.
