This adapted and ebonised version of our architectural Pillar table is a bold expression of sculptural form, material depth, and traditional craftsmanship. Designed and entirely handcrafted in England using time honoured cabinetry techniques. Each piece is constructed from selected English oak and finished to a deep black, highlighting both its structure and character.Featuring oversized hand-cut dovetail joinery that remains visibly expressed. A solid turned oak upright column pierces through the tiered sections.Ebonised to deepen tone and accentuate contrast, the wood retains its natural grain beneath the finish, allowing subtle movement and texture to remain visible within the blackened surface. The result is a piece that feels both grounded and refined, with a strong sculptural presence.Influenced by early 20th-century European modernist architecture and later post-modern interpretations of form, the design balances structural clarity with expressive detailing. These are multi-functional pieces intended for use as nightstands, end, or occasional tables. Built to be used and enjoyed for a lifetime and beyond. Each piece is hand finished in highly durable eco oils that enhance durability while maintaining a tactile, natural surface quality.Alternative versions are available in prime American black walnut, white oak or ash - and custom dimensions can be produced on request (within practical parameters). All pieces are genuinely made by hand in England and carry the subtle, tactile evidence of the craftsperson’s work - small variations and honest detailing that reflect true handmade construction. We design distinctive furniture with a focus on combining contemporary design alongside the inherent beauty and structural qualities of exceptional natural materials. Our continued use of English quarter-sawn oak reflects this philosophy. Long valued by fine furniture makers across the world, it is more demanding and costly to produce, yet offers exceptional stability alongside the striking medullary ray figuring that gives each piece its distinctive depth and identity.By working with these natural qualities and combining them with contemporary architectural design, we continue to create tactile, idiosyncratic furniture with presence, integrity, and enduring character.
