An adapted version of our architectural oak pillar nightstands or end tables. Designed and totally handcrafted in England using traditional woodwork techniques with the most beautiful and finest English quarter-sawn oak. Hand-cut large dovetail jointing with turned oak upright pillar piercing through the sections cut flush to the surface. A design drawing influences from very early 20th century European Modernist architecture and later Post-Modern aesthetics. These are unique multi functioning pieces and are primarily intended for use as nightstands. The top surface has a hidden supporting collar within the surface and can take significant weight. These are substantial, bold and striking pieces of completely handmade furniture, built to last. Finished in durable natural oils.Alternative American Black Walnut versions are available in our other listings andcustom dimensions are available on request.These pieces are completely bench-made by hand in England and bear the telltale and tactile signs of the craftspersons work. We design bold and distinctive pieces of furniture – our main objective is combining the design alongside the natural beauty and properties of the raw materials.These timbers and materials are very carefully chosen for each specific design - maintaining our focus on the benefits, visual impact and strengths of what we use. Our regular use of English Quartersawn Oak is one case in point. It has been the beloved timber of fine furniture makers across the world for centuries. It is costly to produce but gives huge benefits and rewards such as its striking medullary rays and superb stability qualities. By utilising these wonderful and naturally occurring features with our contemporary designs we aim to continue creating some very distinct, tactile and idiosyncratic pieces.These are all completely handmade, in very small numbers, by our skilled craftspeople in England.
