A larger proportioned English oak SS1 Nightstand. The Model SS1 is a generously proportioned handcrafted nightstand (or end table), meticulously created from the very finest solid English quarter-sawn oak. Bold in presence, refined in execution, the design combines strong minimalist and modernist influences with the authenticity of traditional English furniture craftsmanship. The upper cabinet houses a spacious drawer constructed entirely by hand using traditional hand-cut dovetail joinery, with beautiful quarter-sawn oak interior. Every element of the drawer construction reflects the integrity and precision of time honoured cabinet making techniques, ensuring exceptional durability with refined detailing.Beneath the drawer, the open shelf area provides generous storage or display space. The rear elevation is given the same level of consideration as the front, featuring traditional double panelling that allows the piece to be appreciated from any angle. Model SS1 is designed and genuinely handmade in England by our highly experienced craftspeople using traditional techniques. Rather than concealing the process of making, the construction and subtle hand finished details intentionally reveal the mark of the maker’s hand, giving every piece an individual character and tactile quality.Only the best selected timbers are used throughout. English quarter-sawn oak has a wonderfully figured and straight grain, which continue to develop character and patina over time. Finished in highly durable eco-friendly oils that protect the timber while preserving its organic texture and tactile quality. Custom dimensions, bespoke adaptations/configurations can be produced upon request. Also available in solid English oak or ash.We create bold and idiosyncratic furniture with an emphasis on material integrity, architectural form and the tactile qualities of handcrafted construction.
