A beautiful pair of mid-century Louis XVI style circular Gueridons style commode side tables with a classic French Neoclassical silhouette. These cabinets feature a classic round, drum-like silhouette, allowing them to be placed beautifully in the center of a room, between two chairs, or as elegant bedside nightstands. Because they are perfectly round, they offer a seamless look from every angle, highlighting the continuous fruitwood grain and the delicate hand-painted gold carvings that wrap around the apron. Made with a rich fruitwood veneer, each piece is adorned with four intricate floral marquetry and crowned with a white Carrara marble top with a subtle chamfered edge. The panels showcase a delicate wood-inlay basket overflowing with flowers, tied with a graceful ribbon bow and framed by a beaded border. In lieu of heavy metal ormolu, these tables feature hand-painted gold detailing over intricate wood carvings along the apron and the acanthus leaf motifs on the cabriole legs. Each table features a curved door that opens to a spacious finished interior, perfect for tucked-away storage. The warm, honey-toned wood grains provide a beautiful contrast to the cool, veined marble and the subtle luster of the gilded accents. Consistent with high-end Italian furniture exports of the 1950s and 60s, these pieces are marked with the embossed model number 6416 on the underside. This numbering system is typical of the renowned workshops in Northern Italy (Brianza region) that specialized in "Style of Versailles" reproductions for the international market.
