Wonderful Chinoiserie side chair or desk chair, freshly created by re-imagining an older vintage shield back dining chair. In its recent incarnation, the chair was given a newly upholstered seat cushion made from a vintage scenic cotton barkcloth textile with an Asian minstrel scene, a geisha with a fan, and a farm worker leading a pack horse across an arched stream bridge. Main colors in the fabric are deep emerald or forest green, off-white, soft mustard yellow, coral pink, dove gray, and several shades of brown, tan and other green hues. Black chenille loop fringe has been added under the cushion as a little extra special accent. The chair frame is a mix of natural wood and painted wood. Three sides of the skirt and the front tapered and reeded legs have been left natural to show off the wonderful tiger grain pattern of the wood, which is either walnut or mahogany. The rest of the frame has been painted soft olive green with black-lined borders, and a black marble treatment has been applied to the fancy fleur-de-lis carved splat section. The paint finish has been intentionally lightly distressed for added character, in keeping with the age-appropriate light wear to the frame overall. Very sturdy piece; that will be a wonderful accent piece suitable for many uses in your home.
