Stele Erosion, 2025Interested in the movement of pebbles along the coasts of the English Channel and in the ever-changing shapes they take during their journey, Alexandre Labruyère captures this motion with his Erosion stele from the eponymous series. In this piece, he works with ash to reveal the material’s essence, creating tension in the lines to express the effects of time on the wood. Initially trained in industrial design, he has explored many fields of object design (transportation, art direction, luggage,etc.) this has enabled him to expand his taste for materials, and his skills in using them. After several years in a large industrial sports company, he trained in 2019 at the GRETA of École Boulle in Paris, tobecome a cabinetmaker. This training allows him today to approach many materials with techniques related to this art, giving free rein to his philosophy. In 2023, Alexandre Labruyère’s Pétiole Guéridon entered the national furniture collections, his Pétiole Chair just entered in 2026.He is one of the winners of the 2024 edition of the French Design 100 with the Pétiole chair.
