An adorable and finely detailed Italian 19th century White Carrara marble statue and Portoro marble pedestal, signed 'Galli Firenza', circa 1885. This emotional and high quality marble sculpture, entitled "The Broken Plate", depicts a young little girl wiping her tears as she cries due to dropping her plate of pasta. Her plate is broken in her hands with only a few fettuccine noodles hanging over the side of the spoon and plate. This young girl is standing in front of a step with an open book on top, appearing to have been sitting before the crashing of the plate. She is dressed in low cut strapped shoes with loose fitting socks, a large flowing dress hanging off her right shoulder, and a cute bonnet with a beautifully patterned trim. This wonderful statue is raised on a Portoro marble pedestal with a square mottled edge white Carrara marble plinth and capital.Statue Dimensions: H: 35.5" L: 11" D: 18"Pedestal Dimensions: H: 43.5" L: 13.75" D: 13.75"
