Produced by EKA (Elektromos Készülékek és Anyagok Gyára), the country’s leading state lighting manufacturer during the post-war era, the fixture reflects a period when engineering durability and clear functional design defined Eastern European industrial lighting.Formed from heavy-gauge steel and finished in deep black vitreous enamel, the pendant carries its original factory markings including “TYP 21925.” A ring of ventilation perforations punctuates the upper housing, while the hinged latch system securing the lower shade introduces a distinctly mechanical character rarely seen in later industrial production. These structural details were integral to EKA’s railway and factory luminaires, designed for maintenance access and longevity rather than decoration.The light is completed by a convex prismatic glass lens, which diffuses illumination into a controlled, architectural glow.
