Weisdorf worked for Poul Henningsen from 1958-1959, then for Verner Panton. He then worked for Henningsen's son, Simon, the chief architect at Tivoli Gardens for ten years. From Danish Lights 1920-Now: "...Weisdorf's lamp thus consists of 12 curved metal bands, each kinked to form a conch-like figure around the bulb when they are vertically interwoven around the axis — hence the name. Weisdorf did not design the Conch for Tivoli, 'but Tivoli's people were excited when they saw the cardboard model and ordered it for use in the gardens. I proposed that a metal version for that setting should be red and orange inside with gold anodization on the outside to emit a warm light that matched the mood of the gardens'. ...The Conch lamps still send out their soft evening glow in the trees near the Japanese Pagoda in Tivoli, but they are not in production today."
