Gispen Opal Glass and Brass Pendant Light, Netherlands, 1950s A rare and elegant pendant light by Gispen, produced in the Netherlands during the mid-20th century. The lamp features a beautifully shaped shade in softly glowing white opaline (opal) glass, known for its warm, diffused light and subtle glossy finish. The shade is suspended from a refined brass fixture, developing a rich patina over time that enhances its vintage character. The combination of opal glass and brass creates a balanced contrast between softness and industrial precision, characteristic of Dutch modernist lighting. The design reflects strong Art Deco influences, with clean geometric lines and a functional yet decorative silhouette. Gispen lighting from this period was inspired by progressive movements such as Bauhaus and De Stijl, resulting in timeless forms that remain highly collectible today. Size of the scone is 24cm wide and 38cm high 16. Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard). The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
