A sculptural and very rare pair of scandinavian modern “funkis” pendant lights by fog & mørup, designed and produced in denmark during the 1940s. The pendants feature beautifully hand-blown opal glass shades with an organic, softly rounded silhouette that embodies the restrained elegance of early danish functionalism. Each shade is suspended from a brown cord and finished with aged brass fittings that has developed a warm patina over time, complementing the luminous matte opal glass. When illuminated, the pendants emit a soft, atmospheric glow characteristic of mid-century scandinavian lighting design. The clean lines and understated material palette reflect the refined “funkis” aesthetic — the nordic interpretation of functionalism — balancing simplicity with exceptional craftsmanship. Sophisticated yet minimal, these pendants work equally well over a dining table, kitchen island, or in a hospitality setting. A rare and highly decorative matching pair from one of denmark’s most celebrated lighting manufacturers. All parts original and beautifully patinated. Provenance: originally commissioned for a church hall in faaborg, denmark. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, up to 250v (europe/uk standard).the wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
