Early American 20th Century Glass As Alabaster Bowl Pendant, All-Original Hardware

Chairish

$2,697

Here's a spectacular early 20th Century American lighting bowl in the manner and style of European, classically carved alabaster -- but cast in glass and then given the lovely patina you see in the pictures. How American to come up with a "cheaper solution" -- how much easier (maybe) to cast glass than to quarry and carve alabaster! The hardware is all -- 100% -- brass and original, the keyless sockets with their fine porcelain interiors, the chain with its decorative marks, the mind-altering, powerful canopy and finial with their bronze patina; on and on it goes! As you can see, with four sockets this large bowl can be used to create a huge amount of indirect light (bounced off the ceiling for the most part) for your room. Put it on a dimmer and dim it down in the evening and it will take on the mystery and beauty of a distant planet. You can move the sockets left or right, easily, to light up as much of the rim of the bowl as you wish. If you're bent on showcasing American antiques in the realm of lighting, this bowl is certainly "as good as it gets!" About 20" in diameter, hanging about 23 inches long. Obviously links of chain can easily be extracted to allow a shorted hanging length. Newly re-wired, employs standard-based bulbs of any wattage desired. This will be double-boxed per UPS guidelines and the resulting box will be very large -- at least 24x24x20.
