The Hampton evokes the historic, mouth-blown glass lanterns of India in the days of the 19th c British Empire. While the oversized bell jar originally held a reservoir of whale oil, this electric version offers a four light candelabra array to provide warm light without the mess. The upper shade deflected the oil’s thick smoke to prevent it from staining the ceiling This version of the Hampton has been discontinued by HVL, although it’s still made with other options. This version has brushed nickel finish to the metalwork and a very slight pink tint to the glass, just like the street lights of Venice!
