Italian Hanging Lamp Medusa In Acrylic Glass By Massoni & Buttura For Guzzini, 1970s

Chairish

$1,070

Guzzini pendant lamp, model ‘Medusa’ (no 2174/1), designed by Luigi Massoni and Luciano Buttura in the 1970s. This Italian design lamp is in white moulded acrylic glass with a closed underside, so that the light is diffused diffusely without a direct view of the light source. The lamp has a diameter of 35 cm and hangs from the original steel cable. The chrome-coloured ceiling cap, which bears the original article number 2174/1, is still present. Dimensions: h x w x d = 21 x 35 x 35 cm, cable length 140 cm, total length 161 cm. This model appears in the original Guzzini catalogue from the late 1960s, i.e. before the name change to iGuzzini in 1974. The ‘Medusa’ is a sought-after collector’s item within Italian 1970s lighting design. The lamp is in very good and original condition, with slight signs of use befitting its age. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs, designer records, or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard). The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
