Mid-Century Perforated Metal Pendant Lamp Attributed To Ernest Igl For Hillebrand Leuchten, 1960s

Chairish

$3,661

Rare mid-century rod pendulum with distinctive perforations. Probably by Hillebrand based on a design by Ernest Igl from the 50s/60s. The bright blue tone of the umbrella is particularly eye-catching. The brass details of the suspension and the canopy provide a harmonious contrast. The shade is open at the top and thus enables indirect room lighting. The light is softly refracted downwards by a glass hood as a diffuser. The most striking detail is of course the perforation. The irregular-looking holes light up as bright dots and break the shape of the umbrella. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard). The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
