An outstanding exemplar of “Jewel” lamps, the Mikado Double LED Linear Suspension from Contardi Lighting draws its inspiration from the faux-chaos of its presentation, the demanding Mikado of Gilbert and Sullivan fame. Designed by Massimiliano Raggi and made in Italy, it shows off a cross-hatch of rectangular brass tubes suspended from a stepped canopy, each one sending a strong LED lamp beneath an engraved crystal diffuser. The construction appears to be random but follows a specific plan, while the adaptable design of the suspension can play well as an independent installation or shine as part of a smart home setup
