The work of designer Flynn Talbot, either in his grand light installations around the world or singular piece’s like the Fabbian Polair LED Pendant, often emphasize shape and scalability. In the piece, a coned borosilicate glass shade creates a “physical presence,” for its light’s rays. These rays come in the form of a downlight, produced by a vibrant LED, which is diffused at the base of the cone through its sandblasted opaque surface. Its scalability is easy to imagine, ordered in a gridded format, in a linear formation, or if it were 20x the size.
