A rare ‘Sfera’ pendant light designed by Tobia Scarpa for Flos in 1964. This pendant features a spherical opaline bubble glass shade suspended from an anodized aluminum support and spring loaded device. Its minimalist design creates a striking visual impact while providing a soft, diffused glow. Maker’s mark sticker present on aluminum support. Italy, 1964.“The model comes from the reworking of the elementary lamps designed in the Bauhaus workshop and previously used in situations of mass production. The Scarpa’s design concentrates on the attachment point of a shade to a metal cylinder. The tube, inserted almost without contact inside the glass shade, is a formally and technically effective solution with respect to the usual assembly with bolts.
