Snowflake pendant light has recently been redesigned to fit within the company’s Seed System kitset group of lights. Snowflake comes in 2 sizes; 800mm dia, 1000mm dia. The plywood finish can be painted on one side thus creating a stock selection. Snowflake is assembled from a hexagonal snowflake shape which creates a repeating geometric pattern. The light was designed following a trip David made to Antarctica as a visiting artist. It builds on the process he first developed with Coral of using minimal thin sheet material in compound curvature to create. Wherever possible, all timber is from sustainably managed plantations in Australia, New Zealand, or the United States. Wood is left natural where appropriate, with natural non-toxic oils being used in place of harmful solvents. From a design point of view, the products use only the minimal amount of materials and are generated with a focus on longevity, rather than mimicking quick-moving trends. The David Trubridge lighting line is designed as Seed Systems that are flat packed. Given that the product is shipped from New Zealand, this method of shipping reduces shipping costs, minimizes risk of damage, and reduces the impact on the environment with significantly (40-50) less volume in each shipment.
